A big thanks to Rafael and Think Pineapple Foundation for helping us out with Christmas in July!
Benny's Kindness Squad will be holding a back-to-school Kindness kickoff camp at the Beverly's Angels Boutique August 2-4.
The goal of the camp is to cover the squad in kindness so they can pay it forward when they head back to their classrooms the following week. While they are attending the 3-day camp, the squad will be mentored in entrepreneurship and finance, and develop their individual Christmas projects with individual mentorship. Squad members will also dedicate a bulk of their time during camp to hands-on projects such as sorting and organizing pajamas, making thank-you cards, and stuffing backpacks that will be dispersed before classes begin. In association with Beverly’s Angels, a local nonprofit that assists impoverished children and their families, Benny's Kindness Squad acts as a “Junior Advisory Board,” comprised of 7-12 year olds who are dedicated to paying kindness forward. Madeline raised $1200 for her birthday which was then donated to Beverly’s Angels to buy as many BlueBEARY bears as possible to be given to children in need. This is the second year for The Madeline Elf project and the inspiration that led to the formation of The Kindness Squad. Caroline wrote a letter to institute the first pajama drive at The Village School. Devon worked with his mother to start an employee toy collection bin at Costco. Christian started a wrapping paper drive at his school and all around town. The Kindness Squad is presenting their next event Friday 12/2 at The Heath Family Tree Farm. Benny's Kindness Squad Members will be there to meet and greet and autograph their new BOOK!!! Start shopping the Prime Day deals (don't worry, we won't tell your husband!) If you have never been a teacher, then you know at least one teacher.
You know that they struggle with funds for supplies that are needed to teach our children. That they are expected to have unlimited resources to create a Disney-like classroom to both entertain and educate their students, day-in day-out. Teachers are with our children every. single. day. They see them all day, every day and not only teach but fill in the gaps of supplies, support, and encouragement when necessary. Helping teachers directly helps Students. Beverly's Angels is here to support teachers with what they actually need in their classrooms and partnering with Synergy Health (with donation matching up to $2k!) has never made it so easy to give back to teachers. Because giving to Teachers is one of the best ways to help Students. Every human desires to feel cuddled and warm in a soft, cozy towel after a bath.
We may not be able to fix all problems, but we work hard to fix this one. We want all children to feel safe and warm, be able to keep themselves clean, and sleep on a mattress at night. The basic human right of keeping clean and hygienic is being stripped in exponential numbers as the housing crisis in SWFL continues to force families out of their homes. Bath time's biggest struggle SHOULD be to get a sweaty, grimy kid who is overly tired from so much playtime into the bubbles... ...not looking for water to make the bath, bathing out of a gas station sink, or using baby wipes out of the backseat of the car. And for those that DO have the luxury of a towel to use, it shouldn't feel like sandpaper, be so thin it's almost transparent, have holes from overuse or mildew from improper laundering. A small thing like a bath towel REALLY DOES make a huge difference to a child in need. Click here to donate a Benny Bundle today. Kindness is an act that is friendly, generous and/or considerate.
That means we are actively concerned about the well-being of other people as well as ourselves. Yes, it takes EFFORT to be kind (especially when we don't feel like it) but the good news is - it's a ripple effect! How did you feel when someone was nice to you when you were having a bad day? How did it feel when someone was NOT KIND to you when you were having a bad day? Doesn't it feel SO MUCH BETTER to be on the receiving end of kindness instead of unkindness? When people are kind to you, you feel SEEN as a human and that you matter (because you DO MATTER!) and it helps you, in turn, be kind to others. If we have bad days, we can always assume someone else we are coming into contact with may be having a bad day, too. It's important to be kind to everyone so they can experience the uplifting nature of kindness - and that's really how it spreads! Just one small act of kindness a day can make a HUGE difference to someone who really needs it...And we will likely never know who that is. It also makes US feel good to GIVE kindness to other people as much as it feels good to receive kindness. Being kind to others activates brain chemicals that make us feel happier! And who doesn't want to be happier?!? Show kindness today no matter your mood or who you are around and see how your day changes. (Be kind. And pass it on.) True Story: About a month ago, a family called us begging for a new mattress because they had purchased a used one that was full of bedbugs.
This is why we give new. It's sometimes hard to fathom that there are children in the world (much less in Southwest Florida) who sleep on the floor. But they are here. To get involved in helping more children sleep comfortably and safe at night contact us now! Feeling giving? Donate Now |
